Toulon Hyères Airport’s communication strategy for its market.

Since 2018 we have been working together to develop the Airport’s reputation and visibility with a view to increasing its passenger traffic.
Located in the heart of the Var department, the Airport is the gateway to the destination of southern France.
Wishing to develop its image and promote its end-of-line destinations, we worked together through collaboration with sponsored campaigns on social networks, influencers, and video production to highlight the territory and your employer brand.

A look back at 2 years of collaboration between the gray skies of Paris and the beautiful lights of the south and its cicadas.

Can you introduce yourself and tell us more about Toulon Hyères Airport?

I’m in charge of the communications department and have been working there for 7 years. Toulon Hyères airport is located in the heart of the Var, France’s leading tourist region after Paris.
At the gateway to Provence and the Côte d’Azur, the airport offers quick access to the most emblematic sites in this exceptional region.
With half a million passengers a year, it mainly serves the regional capitals of France and Europe.

What are the challenges facing an airport like yours in terms of digital communications?

Despite the human scale of our airport, it’s essential to be as present on the Internet as our competitors, and especially on social networks.

Digital technology is an integral part of our lives, but it’s vital that we maintain and develop our almost personalized relationship with our Internet users.
We also need to give our fans the feeling of being present at the airport, by giving priority to photos, videos and live broadcasts when we organize events in our terminal.

Why and how did you come to call on our communications agency?

I researched the agencies’ opinions and specialities on the Internet, and found that Travel Insight had a real mastery of communications linked to tourism and the world of travel.
I had also read an article in Stratégos magazine, which confirmed my choice.
Stanislas didn’t hesitate to come and present his project to us, which won over our management.

What have you learned from our collaboration, and what have been your success stories?

The notion of collaboration has taken on a whole new meaning: regular updates, brainstorming, working with service providers (e.g. videographer, travel influencer, institution, etc.): this agency has a great address book and finds a solution for every problem.

Travel Insight helped us launch the long-awaited service to Roissy Charles-de-Gaulle: sales pitch to the airline, partnership with the city, events, post-launch visibility.
There was a lot of content, and we needed to create a strategy to communicate with our various contacts.

How were the results of these operations measured?

We are managed by VINCI Airports.
Among the other French airports in the network, we are the airport with the best engagement rate.
We have the best figures for comments, reactions, shares and likes.

What did you get out of it?

We’ve been able to create and develop a real link with our web users, allowing us to promote our services, respond in real time, and showcase the different professions and stages of the airport’s operations.

What are your next projects?

The relationship of trust exists, and it’s important at the very least to maintain it.

As the airport is a link in the tourism chain and a tool for the region, we need to develop collaborative work with our partners, professionals and institutions.
We are at the heart of both outgoing and ingoing, and our aim is to contribute to the accessibility and attractiveness of our destination, but also to be the gateway for our residents to new destinations.
We are the gateway to the world, if I can sum it up in this way, and our projects will focus as much on the development of our offers as on the quality of our welcome and information for our travellers.

The final word?

Travel Insight is a highly professional agency, staffed by top-quality people who combine know-how and expertise.
Responsive, competent and attentive, they’re a pleasure to work with!
