La Minute Social Media voyage #2

For this second Social Media Minutewe’ve selected May’s social media travel news for you to keep in mind.
This time, we’ll be talking about what’s new on the TweetDeck app, what’s new for Instagram stories, which are going from strength to strength, and we’ll be tackling the subject of fake-influence on the social network and the actions being taken to combat this phenomenon.
We’ll also look at what’s new on Youtube, Facebook and Pinterest.

What’s new on Twitter

New features for Tweetdeck, the application that lets you manage multiple accounts at the same time.
From now on, you can add GIFS, create polls or write a tweet using emojis.
The announcement was made on Tweetdeck’s Twitter account.
To activate these new tools, simply click on “Launch new composer” at the bottom of the tweet column.
Many community managers would also like to be able to schedule a tweet with this new version of TweetDeck, which unfortunately is not yet available.
For the moment, these tools are only available as Beta versions, and not to all users.
The official update is scheduled for the coming months.

What’s new on Instagram

The social network is developing stickers with the aim of continuing to attract the platform’s users to use stories.

Last summer, we were introduced to the Instagram sticker that lets us add music to our stories.
This year, a new sticker will allow us to display the lyrics of the song of our choice.
It will be possible to customize the shape: color, typography… It’s still being tested, but should be available in the coming weeks.

Another new sticker is about to make its appearance: Join Chat. It will enable subscribers to be invited to a private group conversation.
This new feature will enable brands present on the network to develop their relationship with their audience and obtain direct, targeted opinions and feedback.

Instagram and Fake Influence:

Then, in the latest travel social media news, we can talk about Instagram and Fake Influence.
Currently, among travel influencers it’s not uncommon to discover that some are paying to get more followers.
It’s important for Instagram to be a trusted and caring social network.
To this end, the fight against fake influence continues, following a lawsuit against a New Zealand company specializing in the sale of fake followers.
To discourage users from using these applications, when they share their login and password with these services, they will be forced to change their password.

In addition, they will receive a message stating that using apps to gain subscribers is not allowed by Instagram and that using these apps goes against their rules and continuing could impact their account more significantly.
These actions to counter these dishonest practices will be beneficial not only for real influencers, but also for those in the travel industry who wish to collaborate with influencers.

What’s new on Youtube

The platform has declared that soon, users will be able to apply augmented reality filters to their stories. Immediately, we think of those on Facebook and Instagram, however Youtube claims they will be more elaborate. Thanks to the machine learning Augmented Faces API, faces will be cropped, surrounding noise will be reduced, artificial shadows can be cast and movements will be tracked with great precision.

Only users with more than 10,000 subscribers will have access.

What’s new on Facebook

As for Facebook, the social network has announced an update to its video ranking algorithm. The aim is to give greater prominence to high-quality, original and long-form videos.
They will therefore be more visible in users’ news feeds.
Prior to this update, videos watched for more than a minute appeared in News Feeds.
Now, videos watched for more than three minutes will appear, and pages containing successful videos even weeks after posting will also be highlighted.
Penalties will also be stricter, particularly for videos using content already posted on Facebook, or uncredited content.

Pinterest

Pinterest presents 5 new features! The aim is to attract more brands and advertisers to the social network by offering more ways to showcase offers and products at the right time.

  • Shop a brand: under the pins associated with a brand, you can click on a link and then discover more pins associated with that brand.
  • Personalized recommendations: by clicking on “more ideas”, users can obtain product recommendations, and if they click on Shopping, they’ll have access to the brand’s Pins to decide whether or not to buy the product.
  • Brands will be able to upload their entire catalog and create multiple Shopping Pins.
  • From now on, all advertisers will be able to create Pinterest Shopping ads.
  • Search results will feature Shopping Pins more prominently to encourage users to buy.
